If You Don’t Have a Home You Love
Love the Home You're In

We Are MovingWe all know real estate is tough right now, along with everything else. Many of us have been looking forward to moving from an apartment to a starter home, and then “trading up” as finances allow. But the current economic climate makes this type of progression increasingly difficult. So instead of looking to move to a new home, why not make your current home a dream home by utilizing your equity to make home improvements you can enjoy now, and profit from in the future if you ever do decide to sell.

Check with your Real Estate professional to find out which types of home improvements are good investments. If there is something about your current home that needs replacement, make it an improvement, and you may be able to realize considerable tax savings. Additions to your home – such as nicely styled fencing, or driveway and walkway upgrades- almost always add value. A disco dance floor in the basement? Not so much.

Now is the time to take stock of the resources available to you and make some sound decisions about how to get the most from your money. One of those resources is your credit union membership and the low Home Equity Loan rates available to you through CCSEFCU. Enjoying some well thought out improvements to your home can go a long way toward providing you satisfaction now, and in the future.

We are now offering great rates as low as 4% APR* on Home Equity loans. Stop in, call 410-398-6921, or visit us online at www.ccsefcu.org to start making your current home a home you love.

*Annual Percentage Rate. Rates based on the Prime Rate printed in the Wall Street Journal. Rates subject to change without notice. Please call the credit union to obtain the latest rate information.

We Know You Can

By Bryan E, Kelly, CFP®

Dear Members and Clients,

The founders of Kelly Financial Group, LLC came together 13 years
ago to put into place a firm that was committed to the well being of
our friends, neighbors, and community. A year later we opened our
doors to provide wealth management to our clients with the financial
planning process at the core of what we do. Today, when in the midst of challenging and yes, scary market and economic times, we are thankful that we have remained faithful to our core principals. This gives us the fortitude to face our current climate as we did in the bear market of 2000-2002 and for others to come in the future.

A favorite childhood story of many is “The Little Engine That Could”
by Watty Piper. In this story, a long train needed help to get over a
large mountain. Various railroad engines that had the capacity to
move the train refused to help. They said the job was too big and
difficult for them, and the mountain was too steep. The engines that
were designed to haul heavy freight would not attempt to move the
huge train. Eventually a small engine that didn’t appear to have the
necessary get-up-and-go was asked for assistance and that small
engine agreed to try to help the large train. Using all of its power
and repeating ‘I think I can, I think I can’, the small engine got the
freight train up to the top of the mountain. As the train went down
the tracks on the far side of the mountain to deliver toys and treats
to the children who had been waiting, the little engine repeated the
phrase, ‘I thought I could, I thought I could’.

The challenges of this global market sometimes appear too big and vast for anyone or anything to bring it back to a more stable environment. We believe that staying faithful, being patient, and employing a disciplined money management process will yield great rewards and help clients to meet their real life goals. Similar to the little engine who came out of nowhere, put its head down and worked at its assignment to achieve the unexpected, our wealth management process, coupled with an appreciation of the consistency of human behavior (creating value through bad behavior), should allow our highly skilled investment strategists to identify securities that they believe will survive and thrive in the future. Now is the time when many investments are on sale. Although no one knows precisely when, it is inevitable that these wild bargain prices will at some point in time come to a close. When that happens, and with the benefit of 20-20 hindsight, many investors will wish they had followed a wealth management and investment discipline like we employ for our clients.

Remaining committed to our original goal, we now have a team of professionals committed to a bright future and we thank you for your faith, confidence, and trust. We look forward to saying quietly within ourselves “I thought I could, I thought I could”.

Best regards,
Bryan E. Kelly, CFP®
